This 2020 dark contemporary comedy is set during a small-town city council meeting that slowly unravels into a chilling revelation. As a new council member questions missing records and a colleague’s absence, he uncovers a buried and disturbing chapter of the town’s history. The play satirizes political power, collective denial, and the fragility of democratic ideals.

A Raisin in the Sun

This groundbreaking play by Lorraine Hansberry the first play written by a Black woman to be produced on Broadway, premiered in 1959. The story centers on the Younger family, an African American family living in a cramped apartment on the South Side of Chicago. When the family receives a $10,000 life insurance check after the death of the father, each member has different dreams for how the money should be used. A Raisin in the Sun is considered an American classic for its honest portrayal of racism and its powerful depiction of family resilience.
