Legally Blonde Auditions

The Footlight Club is ecstatic to announce upcoming auditions for Legally Blonde, with music and lyrics by Laurence O'Keefe and Nell Benjamin, and book by Heather Hach.  Auditions slots are likely to fill up quickly, so sign up early and reserve your spot!  We look forward to seeing you at auditions!

Tech Dates (attendance is required): We will be having TWO tech weeks from October 21st through November 8th.
Location: The Footlight Club, Eliot Hall, 7A Eliot Street, Jamaica Plain, MA
Rehearsals: Rehearsals will begin the week of August 18th and run Sunday/Tuesday/Thursday through November, with an additional rehearsal day to be added depending on cast availability. 
Strike: Mandatory strike is November 24th.

Dates: Wednesday, June 5th & Thursday, June 6th from 7pm - 10pm. Sign up for an hour slot via the link above.
Callbacks: Sunday, June 9th from 11am - 2pm. 


Audition Requirements:

  • Please arrive at least 15 minutes proper to your slot to complete an audition form on site.

  • Prepare 1 song, 32 bars in the style of the show; please bring music in proper key (no a capella). Please do not sing from the show. Please dress prepared to move.

  • Bring a headshot and resume, if you have one!

  • Know your conflicts from August 18th through November 24th to list on the audition sheet. Please be thorough. Some conflicts can be scheduled around if we know about them ahead of time.

Other Audition Info:

  • Appointment times are start times.  Each time slot will accommodate up to twelve (12) auditioners. Please arrive in enough time prior to your appointment time to be ready to begin the process promptly.  

  • Missed appointments or late arrivals will only be accommodated as space and time allows.

  • Not all roles require callbacks.  

  • Actors needed at callbacks will be notified following each audition (or by 10am the day before Callbacks). Actors called back will be given sides and music to work on.  

  • All actors will be notified of casting results following callbacks.  


Show Summary:

A fabulously fun award-winning musical based on the adored movie, Legally Blonde The Musical follows the transformation of Elle Woods as she tackles stereotypes and scandal in pursuit of her dreams. Action-packed and exploding with memorable songs and dynamic dances - this musical is so much fun, it should be illegal!

Elle Woods appears to have it all. Her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the prestigious law school. While there, she struggles with peers, professors and her ex. With the support of some new friends, though, Elle quickly realizes her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world.


THE CHARACTERS:
The Footlight Club welcomes and encourages qualified performers of all ages, ethnicities, body types, and genders to audition. Please feel free to audition regardless of the age and gender listed for each character. Supporting roles may be double cast, and we will be casting a number of ensemble members.

Elle Woods (Gb2-G5 Soprano Belt) Elle is a bubbly college-age girl who follows her ex-boyfriend to Harvard Law School.

Emmett Forrest (B2-A4 Tenor) Emmett is a smart, quirky, sensitive and personable law student.

Paulette Buonofuonte (A3-A5 Soprano Belt) Paulette is the owner of Hair Affair, a local salon.

Professor Callahan - (A2-F#4 Baritone) - Callahan is a pompous and manipulative law professor at Harvard.

Warner Huntington III (Eb3-Ab4 Tenor) Warner is attractive and charming but very self-absorbed.

Vivienne Kensington (A3-F5 HUGE Soprano Belt) Vivienne is an overachieving, stuck-up, savvy law student.

Brooke Wyndham (A3-G5 Alto or Soprano) Brooke is an exercise video star.  It is expected that she can jump rope and belt at the same time!

Pilar/Ensemble (G#3-F5 Belt) Member of Elle's entourage who follow her through the story as her "Greek Chorus."

Margot/Ensemble (G#3-F5 Belt) Member of Elle's entourage who follow her through the story as her "Greek Chorus."

Serena/Ensemble (G#3-F5 Belt) Member of Elle's entourage who follow her through the story as her "Greek Chorus."

Kyle B. O'Boyle/Ensemble (no vocal requirement) Kyle is a physically fit, smooth-talking UPS deliveryman.

Enid Hoops/Ensemble (G3-G5 Soprano Belt) Enid is a strong, opinionated, feminist law student at Harvard.

Elle's Mom/Ensemble (C4 - E5 Alto) High society socialite from Malibu.

Elle's Dad/Ensemble (D3 - E#4 Baritone) High society golfer from Malibu.

Kate (Bb3 - Eb5 Alto) Delta Nu scholastic chair!

Leilani/Chutney (B3 - Eb5 Alto) Delta Nu sorority sister/ Brooke Wyndham's jealous step-daughter.
