7A Series: Murder, Meth & Mayhem
Murder, Meth & Mayhem
Music by Steven Bergman
Book and Lyrics by John Shea
About the Play: "Murder, Meth & Mayhem” is a new chamber opera that was presented for the first time at the Providence Fringe last July. It is a tragic tale, based on actual events, about a woman (Molly) who lives with her verbally abusive father (Donald). One day, her younger, drug addicted sister (Suzannah) shows up with her equally drug addicted boyfriend (Slim), wasted on meth, to crash at Molly and Donald's home. During one of their frequent meth binges, we learn that Donald and Suzannah are incestuously in love with one another, and they convince Molly to help them murder Slim. After they commit Slim's demise, they are arrested, and we witness their trial, where we learn about the gruesome crime in detail, and the causes of such atrocities.
