“My art is an iterative, joyful, and constant outpouring of my internal experience. It is a sieve through which I pour my emotions and thoughts. I find myself gravitating towards the rigid and meditative nature of my hard-edged paintings when I attempt to digesting the grief and heaviness of our modern-day chaos. Block printing contains and even restrains me. Inversely, the free flow of my softer paintings and collage allows for expansion and curiousity without borders. Each medium is a necessary channel for me to pour into as I navigate my daily life.”
Lena Jenny is a self-taught, mixed media artist, currently living and working in Boston MA. With a passion for art that has spanned her entire lifetime, recent exploration has led her to branch into two seemingly disparate painting styles, along with a host of other mediums.
She is a full time ASL/English interpreter; working alongside people who perceive the world visually has sharpened her spatial sense and informed her perception of contrast and color. This in turn sparked an artistic investigation into both the rigid and meticulous alongside the fluid and nebulous in her paintings. Lena’s body of work continues to expand and explore the often dialectic nature of communicating through color and shape.
